All new Volvo S60 combines sport with safety
10 June 2010
Volvo claims its all-new S60 four-door coupe is sportier and more distinct than any other vehicle in the Swedish carmaker's history. The new range will be available with a choice of two diesels and one petrol engine. The newly- developed five-cylinder 2.0-litre D3 engine produces 163hp and with a manual gearbox, fuel consumption is up to 54.3mpg on the combined cycle. The now-familiar twin-turbo D5 powerplant produces 205hp and accelerates from 0-62mph in 7.8 seconds. In the guise of the new Volvo S60, the D5 engine delivers fuel consumption of 53.3mpg. For new car buyers looking for high-performance, the Volvo S60 T6 model benefits from a recently enhanced 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine, generating 304hp, and sprints to 62mph in just 6.5 seconds and onto a top speed of 155 mph while still offering fuel consumption of 28.5mpg. As you would expect from Volvo, the new S60 is packed with innovative safety features, including Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake system. Combined with Distance Alert, Queue Assist and Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake the system is available as a £1,3501 option. Standard safety features include City Safety, a system that automatically brakes the vehicle from speeds up to 19mph if the car in front stops.
